What Would Jesus Vandalize?

Friday at school, right as I was getting ready to leave, Mr. Dil approached me and asked if I would sign as a witness his mail-in ballot.

Why is this unusual?

Cuz Mr. Dil is a Jehovah's Witness and doesn't vote. Nor does he celebrate holidays. He doesn't sign birthday cards that we pass around on peoples' birthdays. But he does say, "Everyday's a holiday." And he makes a concerted effort to tell all of us on a regular basis that he appreciates us.

So when he asked me to witness his ballot, I was very surprised. He said he still hasn't decided 100% that he is voting, but he'd obviously decided enough to fill it out and have it ready to go.

I told him I hope he does. And I didn't even ask him whom he was going to vote for, if he did.

On an uglier note, yesterday Don and I were driving to the Springs and noticed several McCain signs had been vandalized. They were big yard signs that someone had spray painted the "L" out of Palin so it read "McCain Pain". We both found this offensive. Not only the disrespect for someone's opinion, but the out and out criminal behavior of trespassing and vandalizing.

And today, someone took my Obama bumper sticker off my car at the grocery store.

These criminals don't realize that every act of ugliness just makes the other side more shut down to any kind of civil discourse.

Like I tell one of our very conservative staff at school whenever he wants to pick a fight with me, "You make me feel like torturing somebody."
