Good Morning

Well, Larry says I should blog about the election even though every blogger on the planet has said everything you'd ever want to know...but were afraid to ask.

I got nothing.

Except a few fragmented observations.

The Woodland Park Obama office was vacated the next day. It's kinda sad.

The next day at work, it was clearly obvious who voted for Obama and who didn't. Obama voters...their faces beamed. They walked on air. They didn't have to say anything. Of course they did speak, the most memorable line to me came from Juan. He said, "My president won."

The unhappy ones seem, to me, to spout completely irrational things. Things like "Obama is coming for your guns!" and "It's a good thing I'm not in the military anymore because I could never swear allegiance to someone who doesn't put their hand on their heart when saying the Pledge of Allegiance." I don't think Obama cares that much about your lawfully owned guns and the military swear to uphold and protect the Constitution, not the President. Enlisted only have to swear to obey him. Officers don't even swear that much. The Constitution is a higher authority than the President.

I got choked up when Obama came out to give his speech. I would bet he'd been crying. And if he would've choked up at all during the speech, I would've been bawling my eyes out.

Michelle Obama is a beautiful woman.

John McCain gave a great speech, too. If he would've talked like that throughout the whole campaign, he might've won. He should've scolded those lowlifes who booed when he mentioned Obama. He should've put the smackdown on them and told them that ugliness probably just cost them the election.

I've often thought of the grim legacy Bush would leave behind. But his real legacy is Barack Obama. I guess one day I'll have to thank him.

I was humming this song all day:

One of the fascinating stories about the election is how much support Sarah Palin has even now among Republicans for a possible run in 2012. She has demonstrated some of the worst qualities—incompetence, ignorance, denying wrongdoing in the face of clear evidence, abusing power—the list could go on. What is the deal with that party?!?

my reflections:

it feels pretty frigging awesome to vote for the person that won

"for the first time in my life I am really proud of my country"

this gives me new hope that humanity won't destroy itself and the planet within my children's lifetime

now Anne won't have to try as hard to convince everyone in Germany that not all Americans think exactly like Bush

Obama's belief in education makes me hope that the next time around there will be fewer people that succumb to the bs that circulates during campaigns (he's a muslim, he's a muslim terrorist, [and somehow muslim=terrorist], etc.)

I still have a soft spot for Ron Paul. Shane thinks they should put him in charge of the Treasury, since he knows his economics more than anyone else I've ever heard speak. I hope the Obama cabinet pays attention to what he says.

I'm a mind/body type of girl. How you treat your body says a lot about yourself. Obama is one of the physically healthiest politicians I've ever seen. (RP does a damn good job for his age too).

I have heard about, seen, and believe the love between him, his wife and their daughters more than anyone else in the media lately.

I'm sure there's more, but like you said, it's all been said already.
