Zorro and the Two Bears or How I Spent the First Day of My Summer Vacation

Well kids, in case you didn't know, I'm on summer vacation. We do have summer school at my school, but it's only 4 weeks, half days, 4 days a week. And it's voluntary. With gas prices what they are, it isn't profitable for me to drive down there for a half day of work. So I didn't volunteer. Like Gordon (one of the few teachers left who have been there as long as me and worked as many summer schools as me) said, "There's plenty of new teachers, let them do it."

So I'm sitting here enjoying the cool morning air, listening to the hummingbirds, thinking about what I want for breakfast. Yesterday, I made blueberry pancakes for me and Lila. Of course I had to eat a yogurt earlier cuz I get up at 6 and Lila gets up at 10:30. Dhyana totally missed out. I left at 1:30 to go help Don and she still wasn't up.

I am going back down to school this afternoon. One of my Advance Art kids just passed his GED. I told him I'd come down for his party. Carla teaches GED and coordinates the party so I like to help her out, too. Darn kids.

So yesterday, on my first day of summer vacation, I look out the front door and see bears in the trash. Tuesday is trash day on our street and any other Tuesday, our trash would've been out there too cuz I would've already left for work. When the bears were done and sauntered off, Zorro came by messed around for while, too. Zorro is harder to get a photo of. He's much quicker and extremely skittish.

I think I was awake just not out and about yet... I'm still catching up from all those all-nighters to get that 3.76 GPA this semester

It's just wrong to taunt all of us summer workers with stories of lounging around eating homemade blueberry pancake. It's just not right!
