I'm In The Garden

In case you were wondering where I was.

I'm re-doing the whole thing this year. I didn't work on it much last year. Not sure why. It became rather over run with grass and yarrow. I happen to like yarrow and have even purchased it in the past, but it's a spreader by runners and it doesn't bloom much when you just let it run.

I'm also putting down a little pebble pathway and adding containers. I want to add some more statuary as well. I haven't purchased any yet. I'm thinking I need some version of The Virgin Mary since I'm Catholic now. I'm leaning towards a nice Our Lady of Guadalupe . Perhaps in a grotto. I also found some nice Greco-Roman Artemis/Diana sculptures that I like. Who knows? Now that I've finally put in the garden gnome that Marilyn gave me, all bets are off.

In the process of weeding, I've found many, many baby plants that I want to keep. Most are delphiniums and columbines which I let go to seed at the end of summer. Some are a daisy-type flower that I don't know the name of. It has red and pink flowers, grows to about my waist, and has feathery leaves. So I've been carefully removing them and putting them in temporary homes until I'm done with the destruction. Some will go to Janie's house. She's our math teacher who invited me to her house to pick fresh rhubarb. She also sent me home with a bouquet of lilacs, honeysuckle and bridal veil (this is the common name, I don't know what it's real name is). And a promise of Lily-of-the-Valley and Snow on the Mountain. When she gets back from San Diego next week, we're gonna trade.

You know how when you look at something for a long time, the image is kinda burned onto your retina and you see it when your eyes are closed? I see the 3-lobed leaf of a columbine when I close my eyes.
