Nothing much going on. I guess nothing that amounts to a full paragraph, let alone a decent size post.
Oh well!
I bought some new pants at our new Wal-Mart. I typically stay very far away from clothes at Wal-Mart. They're cheap. In every sense. I don't mind paying more or even a lot more for clothes if I know they're not going to fall apart after 2 trips round the washing machine. My justification is a good one, though. I'm still loosing weight with the Weight Watchers. 20 pounds so far. Yea me! So I couldn't see paying $40 for pair of slacks if I have to downsize again in another month and a half. Good justification, eh?
I also bought the new Eagles CD there. I have an issue with the Eagles. They ONLY released their new CD at Wal-Mart. There's something hinky about that. The CD itself is good. It took me a few listens to warm up to it, but it's very good and even the songs I don't like that much still sound wonderful with their old man harmonies.
Speaking of weight loss, our treadmill broke on Monday. It's only about a month old. Kinda irked me, but the place we bought it from came out right to fix it. Turns the whole motor needs replacing. The treadmill mechanic said he'd never seen a motor where the main shaft just busted up. So it may or may not get fixed before we leave for St. Louis. Of course it happens just in time for all the holiday foods people bring to work. Most of that stuff I really can resist. But today, one of our teachers brought homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies his wife made. They were the awesome. I ate 2. Then I was just on a downward spiral cuz Carla brought peanut M&Ms. Damn her.
On another food note, Miss Amber, my former teacher's assistant is back this week and next to volunteer. She's a fabulous cook and always brings food for me. But she brings me healthy food. Today was Indian food. Miss Amber and Dhyana are the only people who will eat Indian food with me so I haven't had it for ages. It was great. Very spicy, could've used some sour cream or nan, but I didn't complain. One year, Miss Amber made a bunch of Indian food for me for a Christmas present. All freezable so I could enjoy it at my leisure. I think she's gonna hook me up again this year.
Christmas cards are done. Don's gonna print me out some stamps and then they're off.
Christmas music was a little slow this year. Just now getting in the mood. I think I exhausted all my commentary about that last year. I might have to go to church with my brother in St. Louis so I can sing some Christmas carols.
Not putting up any decorations in the house since we're leaving town. Lila's old enough that she really doesn't care that much.
Not really caring too much about gifts either. Don and I just dropped major dollars on a new TV and treadmill so nothing for each other. Dhyana and Lila both want digital cameras. Becky and Richard are getting gifts for our parents, I just have to pay my share when we show up. Got something for my stepmom. Don and his brother Fred usually go in together for something for their mom. Their dad says never to buy him anything so we don't. Besides, what would Jesus buy?
I am venturing into new territory. I bought an MP3 player. It started when Napster released their new update. Umm....yea....it sucked. Some tracks that I had previously purchased either were now unpurchased, unpurchasable all together or sometimes even unlistenable. How jacked up is that? So I started looking at Rhapsody. I'm fixing to switch as soon as the miraculous little device arrives.
One of our other teachers went to Israel last month. I got to see her photos yesterday. Pretty fascinating stuff. The photos ranged from her looking soaked and radiant after a baptism in the River Jordan to some janitor's dog in a bathroom stall. It reminded me of an old Jon Stewart comedy routine where he talked about not getting mixed up in religious wars in the Middle East. It went something like, "All those big religions started in the same place over there. Judaism, Christianity and Islam all live in the same three block area. Moses, Jesus and Mohammad all went to the same high school!"
