The Time Traveler's Wife

So I've had a little time to reflect on The Time Traveler's Wife movie. Overall, I liked it very much. Your expectations always go down for a movie made from a book you love. You just don't want them to royally jack it up.

And they didn't. Of course some plot details were omitted, again, fully expected. Certain scenes from the book that I enjoyed were omitted, but they have to cut it somewhere for time. The biggest disappointment was the ending. They didn't use the ending from the book. Huge disappointment. The final scene in the book is short and heart-rending. Would've added a few minutes onto the length of the movie and added that final helping of bittersweetness. Carla complains I don't cry at movies...I might have if that scene was left in. Carla also reviews the movie in her blog, linked over on the right.

The book is amazing, in my top 10 of all time. The movie is good. I'd see it again.

I'm also now reading "The Hour I First Believed" Wally Lamb. Bought it at the bookstore after seeing Time Traveler's Wife. I'll go back and forth between that and Harry Potter for awhile.

I don't think I could alternate between kid and adult lit books. Good for you.
