Slurp It Up

I'm getting towards the end of "Prodigal Summer". One word sums it up.

Luscious.

It's one of those books you never want to end. We're all on a Barbara Kingsolver binge at work. At least those of us with good taste. Carla is reading "Animal Dreams", Janie just finished "The Poisonwood Bible" and now Andrea is reading it. I've already read those along with "Pigs In Heaven" and "The Bean Trees". But it's been several years so I think I want to re-read them. Carla finished "Animal Dreams" in my room today and cried and cursed us for making her read such a good book. Janie cried reading "Poisonwood". I told her I don't remember crying with that book, but I'm a hard ass and hardly ever cry. I have, however, laughed out loud with "Prodigal Summer".

Luscious.

Another fabulous bit o' fun and learning: HBO John Adams. Marilyn and I are watching it. We love that historical stuff. Even Don was impressed. It is so wonderful to hear those old guys talk. They could use language and use it well. Literate, educated, passionate, and totally human and fallible. Reminded me of Obama. Hmmm......
