Thursday was Don's second anniversary at with Friendly Computers. Things are going well for him. And he still enjoys it, that's the main thing. Who wants to go to job they hate everyday?
Yesterday was our sixth wedding anniversary. We saw "B Movie" and went out to eat. We took Lila with us. It was a relaxing day. Our parents either sent us cards or called us. My stepmom said she has my dad doing yoga. I think there's a rip somewhere in the time-space continuum.
Friday I was in Denver all day for training. The last workshop I did was drumming. Yep, drumming. It's a fabulous organization that teaches kids how to make and play drums and create community with drumming. We drummed for forty minutes straight. My arms are still sore. Dang.
I've been working on this Creative Journaling class so a lot of my recent writing-type stuff doesn't make it to my blog. I will say, mostly in defense of rubber cement, that there is a huge difference between any kind of writing or art done on a computer and writing and art that's not. I see these commercials for kids' toys that are all computer oriented or some new technology that prevents the poor kids from drawing outside the lines or, heaven forbid, on the walls. Don't get me wrong, I love my blog and I love doing stuff in Photoshop and similar programs. But there's nothing to compare to having a pair of scissors in your hand or a marker or piece of beautiful paper or that comforting smell of rubber cement. Hello, my name is Jennifer and I huff solvents, fixatives, and adhesives.
And even though Don doesn't work on cars anymore, I know he harbors a keenness for certain automotive fluids.
Why do think we get along so well?
