Speaking of String...

I'm not feeling much like blogging recently. Not sure why. But in the words of a blogger who no longer blogs (I'm not naming names.....Richard), "Sometimes you just have to put one word in front of another." I'm paraphrasing of course, he uttered those words 30 years ago and my memory is shot to hell.

I enrolled in a Creative Journaling course. It's a long distance class or whatever they're calling those types of things these days. I need a few more credit hours to renew my teacher's license next year. This course looked interesting to me. So I might be doing some journaling off-line that y'alls won't be privy to. I was going to enroll in a course offered by my school district that was basically a bookclub, but it was full. Imagine that. Getting credit for reading. And I already read the first book for crying out loud! "Zorro" by Isabelle Allende. You remember, right?

The art teacher conference I want to go to is still having issues on their registration site. Darn artists. They're so unorganized.

Be sure to check out all the recent photos on Becky's and Marilyn's blogs. Fabulous.

Lila's soccer team has won 2 out of the 3 games they've played so far. They rock.

Dhyana is doing well at KU. The cicadas are leaving her alone now. I think she went to the town her Kansas boyfriend is from this weekend. Not sure if that's a sign of seriousness or not. Who knows with these young whippersnappers these days.

I saw one of my students on the outs on a work release. He was riding in the back of a pick-up truck. I so ratted them out. It's illegal for him to ride like that. He may be a little criminal, but dammit, he's our little criminal and if anybody's gonna eject him from moving vehicle, it's gonna be us.

I'm fairly bored with politics right now. Or maybe its exhaustion. Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are about all I take anymore.

Speaking of exhaustion, my doctor tells me I have sleep apnea. Great. So not only have I not been blogging, apparently I haven't been breathing either. This makes me feel old and decrepit. He has various options on the table for me. I guess I'm hopeful about his opinions since he was able to help me with the migraine situation without drugs or other nastiness.

Speaking of not breathing, we saw Don's mom yesterday. She's still in the rehab center, but she's improving. They're still working on clearing out her lungs from the pneumonia. And she had lost a lot of weight, but she's starting to put some back on. That's a good sign. She was wearing her own clothes, not hospital gowns, eating lots of food, and going for walks around the facility. Don was chuckling all the way home cuz she said, "I think one of the nurses is a lesbian."

Speaking of lesbians....not really, I just was liking that segue way....Carla and I saw "Becoming Jane" last weekend. Excellent movie. Of course it's a chick flick, but get over it. It made Carla cry. She's a wimp. She cries if you look at her sideways. We had some good conversations about the choices people make. Some very hard choices, some very heartbreaking choices, and how you come to make peace with those choices. The way Jane and Tom did. Tom is Mr. Darcy is all of Jane's books. All of her heroines got to have a happy ending with Mr. Darcy. Life didn't turn out that way for Jane and Tom. And things would've been so much different for Jane and Tom if they had only come to America. Crazy kids.

Those are all the words I can string together right now.
